Impressionist painting of figures on a bench in a Berlin U-Bahn station, by Cristina Carrillo

Meet Cristina Carrillo

Floor 2 · People's Gallery

Cristina Carrillo was born in Madrid, Spain, and has since lived across Finland, Peru, Ireland, and Germany, with Berlin her current home. Growing up surrounded by the rhythms of city life, she developed a deep sensitivity to everyday moments — morning light through leaves, the shimmer of water, the particular way a city wakes up.

Her work blends impressionism with the observational instincts of street photography, using light and shadow to reveal the stories hiding in plain sight.

Portrait with vivid pink hair in coloured pencil and crayon, by Kaori Itami

Meet Kaori Itami

Floor 4 · People's Gallery

Kaori Itami is a self-taught artist originally from Japan who has called Berlin home for the past six years. She began drawing in 2022 during the COVID lockdowns, starting with whatever color pencils and crayons she had on hand — and never stopped.

Drawing is her way of unwinding after work and on weekends, and her work carries that quiet, personal energy throughout.
